The US always try to turn OPCW into a tool for its political agenda_Ambassador Shulgin

Damascus, SANA- Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the OPCW in The Hague, Ambassador Alexander Shulgin affirmed that the US has been always trying to convert the organization into a tool serving the American agenda.

In a press conference at the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry in Damascus, Shulgin added that this act is infamous, and the US is well known of using its allies to achieve their own selfish aims.

The US affected the work of missions sent to Syria, such as those sent to Douma in April 2018, and manipulated the investigation and conclusions been reported to falsify the facts and eventually blame Syria and attack it, Shulgin said.

He added that Syria and Russia are working together with international organizations, not only with the OPCW, in order to combat and face any aggression on both countries.

Responding to a question about the reason for not closing the chemical weapons file in Syria, Shulgin stressed Syria’s openness and its commitment to the Chemical Weapons’ Convention and its willingness to do whatever in need to close this file,.

“Yet the OPCW Declaration Assessment Team about Syria has no intention to put an end to that file, as they were told from Western countries,” Shulgin concluded.
