New York, SANA- Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Amir Saeid Iravani, reaffirmed that his country backs the Syrian government’s demand for the complete withdrawal of “all illegal foreign military forces” from its territory.
IRNA News Agency quoted Iravani as saying during the meeting of the UN Security Council held to discuss developments in Syria that terrorism still poses threat to Syria and the region and is present in areas outside the control of the Syrian government.
Iravani pointed out that the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria is always threatened due to the occupation of some areas by illegitimate foreign forces, the Zionist aggression and the crimes of terrorist organizations there, which increases the suffering of the Syrian people, in addition to the inhumane and illegal blockade which doubles the burden on it, denouncing at the same time the repeated Israeli aggression on Syrian territory.
Iravani welcomed the efforts of the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Syria, Geir Pedersen, and his contacts with all parties, reaffirming his country’s stance in support of Syria’s active presence in the region, as well as its diplomatic relations at the regional and international levels.
Iravani stressed that his country is determined to continue cooperation with its partners and make efforts aimed at consolidating normal and sustainable relations that serve stability in Syria.
