FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament 2023 Syria to start on Saturday, Damascus

Damascus, SANA- With the participation of Syrian men’s basketball team, the Asian qualifiers for Paris 2024 Olympic will start tomorrow at Damascus-based al Fayhaa Sporting Stadium.

In a press conference held by Syrian Arab Basketball Federation, the Spanish coach, Javier Juarez, stressed the need for everyone’s support and solidarity, because the qualifiers will be long and difficult, adding “we have to maintain focus and invest in both the ground and public.”

“The national team achieved positive results in the recent friendly tournament held in Indonesia which was a useful experience for the players, Juarez went on to say.

Head of the Basketball Federation, Tarif Qotrash, indicated that the Federation is striving to show the national team in the best way , with their ambition to win.

The Syrian team is participating alongside India, Kazakhstan, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.

The 2024 FIBA Men’s Pre-Qualifying Olympic Qualifying Tournaments will be five basketball tournaments that will be contested by 40 national teams, where the top teams earn a place in the 2024 FIBA Men’s Olympic Qualifying Tournaments. The tournaments will be held between 12 and 20 August 2023.
