Mikdad discusses with Algerian and Venezuelan counterparts, Russian deputy foreign minister means of boosting bilateral ties

Baku, SANA- Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Fayssal Mikdad, discussed Wednesday with his Algerian counterpart Ahmed Ataf , aspects of boosting bilateral relations between the two countries.

On the sidelines of the Foreign Ministers of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) held in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku ,the two ministers discussed the agenda of the meeting, particularly confronting mutual challenges faced by member States of the Movement.

Mikdad congratulated Minister Ataf on the election of Algeria as a non-permanent member of the Security Council.

Mikdad discussed with Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil Pinto , means of increasing coordination between the Movement’s countries in addition to enhancing their role in the international arena.

The views of the two Ministers were identical on the important role played by the Group of Friends in defense of the Charter of the United Nations, in maintaining multilateral action in the face of attempts at hegemony, pressures and polarization, and the rejection of interference in the internal affairs of countries.

Later, Minister Mikdad met Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin, whose country participates as an observer member in the Movement, and they discussed the latest developments of common interest, emphasizing the importance of continuing coordination and bilateral cooperation in international bodies.
