Baku, SANA- Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Fayssal Mikdad, is participating in the Ministerial Meeting of the Coordinating Bureau of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), which started its activities on Wednesday in the Azerbaijani capital, Baku, under the slogan “United and steadfast in confronting emerging challenges”.
The meeting will discuss issues related to the political and economic challenges facing the movement’s states, foremost of which is affirming the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of member states and preventing interference in their internal affairs, affirming the right to self-determination of peoples, decolonization, and strengthening cooperation in combating terrorism.
The meeting will also tackle issues related to strengthening solidarity with member states in the face of the unilateral and illegal measures imposed by some Western countries against a number of NAM member states.
Issues related to revitalizing pluralism, promoting a culture of peace and dialogue among civilizations, as well as achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development will be also on the table.
Minister Mikdad is accompanied by Ambassador Bassam Sabbagh, permanent representative of Syria to the United Nations, Qussai al-Dahhak, Director of the Organizations Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jamal Najeeb, Director of the Foreign Minister’s office, and Counselor Ihab Hamed from the Minister’s office.
