Occupied Golan, SANA- Archbishop Atallah Hanna, the Archbishop of Sebastia for the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Jerusalem, said that the occupied Syrian Golan is a symbol of patriotism as its people adhere to their Syrian identity and land day after day.
“I came to the occupied Syrian Golan to express solidarity with its people against the Israeli occupation’s plan to establish wind turbines on their agricultural lands in the village of Mas’ade and the Hafayer area under the pretext of generating electricity from wind energy,” said Archbishop Hanna in a statement to SANA reporter.
“Yet, the occupation aims to force the people of the Golan to leave their homes and lands,” Hanna added.
Archbishop Hanna stressed that the Syrian Golan is a symbol of patriotism, as its people confirm day after day that Golan is and will only be Syrian, underlining that their opposition to the turbine plan represents a patriotic stance par excellence to preserve the occupied Syrian land and prevent the occupation from Judaizing it.
“Our struggle is against one common enemy by fighting it from Jenin to Golan, whose people resist the Israeli occupation and thwart its colonial schemes, said Hanna, noting Syria’s firm position in supporting the Palestinian people and their just causes.”
Earlier, on 21st of June, dozens of Syrian people in the village of Mas’ada in the occupied Syrian Golan were injured due to Israeli brutal attacks to besiege their agricultural areas with an attempt to establish wind turbines in the Hafayer area to the east of the village.
