European MPs: Syria’s return to Arab League meetings is in the region’s interest

Madrid, SANA- The resumption of Syria’s participation in the meetings of the Arab League represents an important step that is in the interest of the region and the Arab world as a whole, Spanish Member of the European Parliament Manu Pineda, affirmed.

“The attempts to keep Syria away from the international forums have been an illegal act that only serves the interests and aspirations of the US,” the Spanish MP said in an interview with SANA correspondent in Madrid.

“What Syria needs now are the relations that are based on mutual respect, an end to the occupation of its territory, and the cessation of looting and theft of its natural resources, so that the Syrian people can build a stable and lasting peace away from all external and foreign interventions”, Pineda added.

Pineda expressed his absolute rejection and condemnation of the unilateral coercive measures imposed on the Syrian people.

Pineda stressed the need to respect international law and help the Syrian people and stand by them in order to rebuild their country without any interference in their internal affairs, and only in this way can peace, progress and prosperity be achieved in the region.

In turn, former member of the Czech Parliament Yergy Vivadil affirmed in an article that the participation of President Bashar al-Assad in the Jeddah Summit and the resumption of Syria’s participation in the Arab League meetings represent a new defeat for the US policies in the Middle East region.

He noted that Syria will continue to play a key role in the region.
