Abdollahian affirms necessity to support reconstruction efforts in Syria

Tehran, SANA-Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian stressed the need for the international community to support the reconstruction efforts in Syria.

Abdollahian’s remarks came in a meeting held Monday with the United Nations Special Envoy for Syria, Geir Pedersen.

The two sides discussed the latest regional and international developments related to Syria, particularly the recent quadripartite meetings of Iran, Russia, Syria and Turkey, and the recent meeting of the foreign ministers of the four countries.

Referring to the successful visit paid by Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi to Syria, Abdollahian affirmed that it is evidence that Syria has entered a stable security phase.

He called on the international community to provide support in rebuilding and creating appropriate conditions for the return of Syrian refugees to their country.
