Tehran renews demand for lifting US illegal embargo

New York, SANA- Iran renewed its demand to lift the illegal sanctions imposed by the United States against it.

IRNA reported that Iran’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, sent a letter to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and President of the General Assembly Csaba Kőrösi, in which he reviewed the negative effects of the unilateral US embargo on the environment and on the safety, health and lives of Iranian citizens.

In his letter, Iravani expressed Iran’s strong protest against the US embargo and its negative effects, stressing that this embargo is inconsistent with international laws and the UN Charter.

“Protecting the environment is the duty of all mankind and is an integral part of sustainable development. Therefore, Washington must bear responsibility for the consequences of its illegal measures on the Iranian people,” he said.
