Syria, (WFP) discuss possibility of expanding early recovery projects

Damascus, SANA- Syria and the World Food Program (WFP) have discussed cooperation in the field of the humanitarian aid and the possibility of expanding the livelihood and early recovery projects.

That came during a meeting on Wednesday that brought together Minister of Local Administration and Environment, Chairman of Higher Committee for Relief, Hussein Makhlouf and Representative for the World Food Program (WFP) in Syria, Kenneth Crossley.

Minister Makhlouf highlighted the importance of the program’s work in Syria since the beginning of the war, and later in the framework of the humanitarian response to the quake-affected people.

He noted that challenges are great and needs are increasing, and this entails more coordination and cooperation and seeking to support livelihood and recovery projects in various sectors in a way that would ensure the needs.

For his part, Crossley affirmed the continuation of providing support to the quake- affected people according to a specific program and within the available financing capabilities.

He underscored the importance of looking forward to achieving more cooperation to improve the response to the needs in Syria, and seek to secure the necessary funding for recovery projects.
