Damascus, SANA- Speaker of the People’s Assembly Hammoudeh Sabbagh affirmed that the bilateral relations binding Syria and China are built on a solid foundation and have been evolving over time in all areas, particularly the political and economic ones.
He also hailed China’s honorable position towards Syria and its people throughout the terrorist war been waged on it.
Sabbagh made his remarks during his meeting with Ambassador Shi Hongwei on Tuesday upon assuming his duties as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Syria.
Sabbagh hoped that the relations between the two friendly countries will witness growth and prosperity more and more, highlighting China’s support and humanitarian assistance provided to Syrian people.
Ambassador Shi Hongwei, for his part, said that he will spare no effort to contribute to promoting the Syrian-Chinese ties at all levels, noting that Syria is one of the foremost countries that established close relations with China.
Furthermore, the Ambassador affirmed his county’s continued support to Syria’s sovereignty, independent decision in all international forums and that China vehemently opposes the foreign interference in Syria’s domestic affairs, calling for lifting the sanctions and ending the embargo imposed on it.
“Powerful Syria is the guarantee of regional stability for it plays a critical role on the regional and international arenas,” the Chinese diplomat concluded his speech, expressing his delight at improving the Syrian-Arab relations.
