Damascus, SANA- Minister of Education, Chairman of the National Committee for UNESCO, Dr. Darem Tabbaa, discussed with the team of International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) ways to enhance cooperation in the field of protecting and preserving cultural heritage , and to develop an action plan that contributes to strengthening the concepts of protecting tangible and intangible heritage.
Tabaa stressed the importance of collaboration with various institutions in order to secure support for the educational and cultural process, protect antiquities and heritage, and pay attention to educational curricula that shed light on them.
The Vice-President of the ICOMOS National Committee, the consultant architect Muhammad Khair al-Din al-Rifai pointed out the importance of the meeting to discuss areas of work through a set of educational proposals to deepen interest in heritage in all its architectural, urban and immaterial degrees along with conducting archaeological research and field tours for students.
Al-Rifai noted that ICOMOS seeks to dedicate all specialized capacities to intensify the Arab presence in the educational, cultural and scientific fields at the regional and global levels.
ICOMOS Syria is a non-governmental organization that aims to preserve the monuments, sites and archaeological and historical cities. It was established on the 17th of last February.
