International Labor Organization calls for supporting Syria to mitigate quake effects

Geneva, SANA- The International Labor Organization (ILO) has called for urgent support to Syria to mitigate the effects of the devastating earthquake that struck the country last month.

According to the United Nations Information Office, ILO Director-General Gilbert Houngbo said that promoting job opportunities is essential to a successful and comprehensive response to the earthquake.

“We owe it to those who lost a lot due to the earthquake, to ensure that the principles of social justice and decent work are integrated into the recovery and reconstruction process,” Houngbo added.
