Two new medals bring Syria’s tally in UAE athletics competitions to 11

Abu Dhabi, SANA – Syria’ national Special Games team seems to be confidently sailing through the series of international athletics competitions taking place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

With two new wins earned on Saturday within the 5th Sharjah International Open Athletics Meeting, the number of medals won by the Syrian athletes mounted to 11.

The new medals included a silver and a bronze, and were earned by Mohammad Khaled al-Mohammad and Bassam Sousaq in shot put respectively.

Al-Mohammad has so far gained five medals-today’s one counted-including a gold in javelin and silver in shot put in the 7th Fazaa International Athletics -IPC Grand Prix in Dubai and two gold medals in Al Ain 9th International Athletics Meeting.

Sousaq’s new medal is his fifth after he won a gold in shot put and a silver in discus at Al Ain competition and two bronzes in shot put and discus at Fazaa competition.

Alaa Abdul-Salam gained a bronze medal in javelin in Al Ain competition.

Al-Mohammad, Sousaq, Abdul-Salam and Abdul-Hakim al-Bikr are taking part in Sharjah Meeting competitions which wrap up later on the day. They include 324 athletes from 28 countries.
