Syria wins new medal in UAE athletics competitions, bringing total to 8

Abu Dhabi, SANA – Athlete Mohammad Khaled al-Mohammad won a new silver medal in the 7th Fazaa International Athletics -IPC Grand Prix, increasing to eight Syria’s medal tally in a series of competitions held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The new medal, which is al-Moahammad’s third, was earned in shot put within Fazaa competition, held in Dubai.

Al-Mohammad had earlier won two gold medals in discus and shot put in Al Ain 9th International Athletics Meeting, the first competition within the UAE series.

Other four medals for Syria were earned by Bassam Sousaq, which included a gold in shot put and a silver in discus at Al Ain competition and two bronzes in shot put and discus at Fazaa competition.

Alaa Abdul-Salam gained a bronze medal in javelin in Al Ain competition.

Sharjah International Open Athletics Meeting is scheduled to be held after the end of Fazaa International Athletics competition, which will run through next Thursday with the participation of 490 athletes from 48 countries.
