Damascus, SANA- Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Fayssal Mikdad on Wednesday met Director of Institute of Oriental Studies of Russian Academy of Sciences Vitaly Naumkin and an accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, Minister Mikdad briefed Naumkin on the difficult situation that Syria and its people are passing through due to the terrorist war against it since 12 years ago and until now, and the earthquake that hit the country recently, pointing to the catastrophic impact of the unilateral coercive economic sanctions imposed by the US and the West on Syria and on countries that do not accept the policies of domination and submission.
Minister Mikdad hailed the well-established relations between Syria and the Russian Federation, which are deep- rooted in the conscience of both countries’ people and the importance of boosting them to face the challenges that the colonial West is still trying to impose on the peoples of the world.
In turn, Naumkin stressed that the relations between the Syrian and Russian peoples are deeply- rooted since ancient times, pointing to the role played by the Institute of Russian Orientalism and the Russian Arabism in clarifying vision and explaining common and just stances to combat media disinformation through work via the media and research that the Institute publishes.
