Damascus, SANA- The Cabinet stressed the need to expedite the completion of a detailed database of the results of damages in various sectors, in order to enable dealing with the disaster systematically and in accordance with the priorities of restoring economic and social activity to the affected areas as well as continuing to provide support and assistance to those affected.
Chairing the Cabinet session on Tuesday, the Prime Minister Hussein Arnous noted the importance of developing specific programs for the reconstruction of these areas according to the proposed scenarios.
Arnous added that the ministries have to continue carrying out the plans and programs approved in the 2023 budget, while giving priority to dealing with the repercussions of the earthquake in all sectors, and directing the available capabilities to carry out response plans in the affected areas.
The Cabinet also approved the estimated budget for the Drought and Natural Disasters Mitigation Fund for the year 2023, amounting to SYP 50 billion, along with the technical and material business plan for the fund.
