Damascus , SANA- The Ministry of Culture and the Syrian cultural milieu mourned the death of the writer Nazir al-Azma at the age of 93.
Al-Azma was considered as one of the modernist poets and the generation of pioneers.
The poet al-Azma was a critic, researcher and writer, born in Damascus in 1930. He was graduated from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the University of Damascus. He also held a Doctorate in Philosophy in Literature from the US in 1969.
Al-Azma also worked as a professor in numerous American universities and a professor of Modern Literature at King Saud University in Riyadh, and co-founded Poetry Magazine and the magazine of Modern Literature in English for the Arab Writers Union
