With participation of Syria, activities of Libya International Conference on Cybersecurity kicked off

Benghazi, SANA-With the participation of Syria, the activities of the first Libyan International Conference on Cybersecurity were launched on Saturday in Benghazi city entitled “National Security and Cyber Threats in a Changing World”.

During the conference, Libyan National Security Adviser Ibrahim Bushnaf said, in a speech, that this conference stems from a growing awareness of the need to pay greater attention to the existing challenges in the field of the Internet, and the need to add cybersecurity to the list of national priorities in the State strategy.

Bushnaf pointed out to the dangers that the rapid development of information and communication technology may pose to the security of citizens, society and the state, and that some countries sought to dominate cyberspace are what impedes ensuring information security in the face of campaigns of misinformation, sabotage, false news and incitement to commit acts prohibited by law.

For his part, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Libyan House of Representatives, Youssef Al-Aqouri, stressed the need to protect future generations from destructive morals and exploitation of all kinds with regard to cyberspace.

 Libyan Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Engineer Salem Al-Darsi, called for preventive and cybersecurity measures, based on a specialized legislative environment.
