Damascus, SANA- Amid joyful Christmas hymns chanted in different languages by “Mar. Ephrem the Syrian” Choir led by Maestro Shadi Sarwa, the first Christmas tree was lit up in Damascus to resemble a message of love and peace.
The tree was unique in its design and simple ideas, as it was permeated with blue and silver balls suspended in the air, surrounded by blue lighting, in addition to transparent gift boxes beside it, and blue natural roses as well.
Plastic artist Bouthaina Ali, who designed the tree, said that she chose the tree to be made of pigeon-shaped models, in a sign of the Syrian man who carries peace in his heart.
She added, “We, the Syrians, have been raised on many values and customs, all of which result in our being a nation of love and peace.”
In turn, Maestro Shadi Sarwa indicated that the choir’s participation is part of a series of participations celebrating Christmas in different neighborhoods of Damascus.
