Damascus, SANA- Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr.Fayssal Mikdad reviewed Wednesday with Khaleda Bouzar, Assistant Secretary-General and Director of the United Nations Development Programme Regional Bureau for Arab States, the existing mutual cooperation between Syria and the Program.
During the dialogue, it was stressed the need to strengthen cooperation, particularly in the areas of early recovery for the electricity, health, water, education and sanitation sectors stipulated in Security Council Resolution No. 2642.
“It is important not to link the so-called political process with humanitarian aid.” Minister Mikdad stressed
He also referred to the disastrous impact of the unilateral coercive measures imposed by some countries that claim their concern for the Syrian people, and for the theft of oil and agricultural crops by the US occupation, as well as the attacks carried out by the Turkish occupation.
In her turn, Bouzar indicated that the program’s good relationship with the Syrian government contributes to the development of the program’s work to serve the goals of humanitarian work.
UNDP Regional Director stressed the importance of continuing coordination and cooperation between both sides to ensure the achievement of the desired outcome, mainly in the context of supporting early recovery in order to create appropriate conditions for the return of the displaced to their homes, villages and cities.
