Syria wins gold medal, three silvers and two bronzes at International Math Challenge

Lattakia, SANA- Syria won a gold medal, three silvers and two bronzes at the Online International Math Challenge (IMC), which was held remotely in Thailand.

In a statement to SANA reporter, Head of Lattakia Education Directorate, Omran Abu Khalil, stressed the importance of this achievement as evidence of the Syria’s presence in the scientific arena, despite the conditions of war, siege, and unilateral coercive economic measures imposed on it.

Abu Khalil referred to the directorate’s role through continuous follow-up, permanent supervision, and provision of logistical support to the participating team, including securing gathering places, providing communications, the internet, and other requirements.

The participating Syrian team includes: Haidar Salameh, who won the gold medal, Mohammad al-Muhaimed, Ramah Sweid, Hassan Dib (silver medal), Karim al-Maliki, Taim Watfa (bronze medal), Laith Abu Ali and Tim al-Shamali (certificates of appreciation), in addition to the team coach, Basel Sultan.
