Dahhak: US hostility represents economic terrorism against the peoples

Damascus, SANA- With the participation of Syria, the first meeting of the National Coordinators of the Group of Friends in Defense of the Charter of the United Nations was held in the Iranian capital, Tehran.

Holding the meeting came in implementation of the decisions of the ministerial meeting of the group, which was held in New York last September on the sidelines of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The meeting focused on coordinating and strengthening joint action to uphold the principles and purposes of the United Nations Charter and to confront the hegemonic and unilateral policies pursued by the United States of America and its Western allies and the practices and violations associated with them such as the acts of aggression, occupation, looting of peoples’ wealth and imposing unilateral coercive measures.

Syria was represented in the meeting by Minister Counselor at the  Foreign and Expatriates Ministry, Qussai Dahhak, who delivered a statement in which he pointed out that the current challenges resulting from the hostile policies of the United States of America and its allies represent economic terrorism that has catastrophic effects on the lives of the peoples of a number of countries of this group.

Dahhak stressed that these grave violations prompt the demand for working together to build a multipolar world.

The representative of Syria called on the national coordinators to exchange ideas, develop proposals and identify areas of work to support the group’s efforts to address violations of the Charter.

Dahhak affirmed Syria’s full support for Iran in the face of aggressive Western policies and the West’s attempts to destabilize Iran’s security and stability.

The group includes 19 countries: Syria, Russia, Algeria, Angola, Belarus, Bolivia, Cambodia, China, Cuba, DPRK, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Iran, Laos, Nicaragua, Palestine, Saint Vincent Grenadines, Venezuela and Zimbabwe.
