Syria, Iran discuss means to boost strategic relations

Tehran, SANA- Syria and Iran discussed on Tuesday means to enhance bilateral relations, particularly on the economic level and ways to activate the signed agreements between the two countries.

That came during a meeting which brought together member of the People’s Assembly, Vice Chairman of the Syrian-Iranian Friendship Committee, Dr. Haifa Jumaa and Iranian Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdollahian.

“These relations constitute an alliance of will that is being consolidated in all social and cultural fields through the exchange of visits and delegations,” Jumaa said.

She highlighted the role of media in confronting Western media, explaining that scientific cooperation, technology transfer and exchange of experiences between the People’s Assembly and the Iranian Shura Council is one of the objectives of this visit.

In turn, Abdollahian referred to the prominent role played by the joint friendship committees between the two the Syrian People’s Assembly and the Iranian Shura Council in developing bilateral relations.

He spotlighted the possibility of establishing an advanced scientific and technical research center in Syria with the aim of enhancing scientific and technical cooperation between the two countries.

In the same context, Jumaa also discussed with Chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Vahid Jalalzadeh ways to develop economic relations to be up to the level of the political relations and to open new horizons of cooperation that will serve the interests of the two countries.

She called for overcoming difficulties regarding trade exchange, encouraging industries and exchanging experiences.

In turn, Dr. Jalalzadeh emphasized the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Syria, pointing out that Syria’s victory in its war on terrorism would achieve a victory in the economy very soon.
