Iranian deputy FM: No solution for crisis in Syria but a political one based on national reconciliation

Tehran, SANA, There is no solution for the crisis in Syria but a political one based on enhancing national reconciliation, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for African and Middle Eastern Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian has said.

Abdollahian, meeting Sunday a Syrian media delegation participated in the 36th anniversary of the victory of the Iranian revolution, said that it is Syrian people who decide their future, pointing out that President Bashar al-Assad’s insistence on national reconciliation was a constructive and a very important step.

Since 1979 Iran celebrates February 11, the day when the late founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini arrived back home after spending more than 14 years in exile.

Ten days of celebrations, better known as the 10- Day Dawn festivities, started upon Imam Khomeini’s return, commemorated as the triumph of the Islamic Revolution.

As Syria, government and people, was capable of combating terrorism, is also capable of managing political track successfully, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister said.

For their part, the Syrian delegation members pointed out the events taking place on the Syrian soil, Syria’s determination to continue fighting terrorism, victories of the Syrian army in defeating terrorism and takfiri organizations and the exerted efforts for enhancing national reconciliation and re-construction.

The delegation included head of Journalist Union, Baath daily director general, al-Thawra daily editor-in-Chief, Director of Talaqi TV and some journalists.
