Egypt records the first infection with monkey box virus

Cairo, SANA- the Egyptian health ministry announced on Thursday the registration of the first case of monkey box in the country.

“The first infection was detected on a 42-year-old Egyptian citizen who has obtained residency in one of the European countries and visits it frequently,” the Youm7 newspaper quoted the Egyptian Ministry of Health as saying.

The Ministry added that the patient has been moved to a hospital designated for isolation.

According to the World Health Organization, till August 16th, 36.412 laboratory-confirmed cases of monkey pox and 179 suspected cases were recorded worldwide, of which 12 deaths.
