Beirut, SANA – Activities of the Syrian-made garments exhibition (Syria Mod for Spring-Summer 2015) held in Beirut International Exhibition & Leisure Center (BIEL) on Monday brings hope of further local economic recovery.
Syria’s Ambassador in Lebanon, Ali Abdul-Karim said, during the inauguration activities, that the exhibition proves the liveliness of the Syrian people, pointing out that the active and talented human power and the social fabric embracing the Syrian Arab Army are victory partners.
He stressed that Syria’s confrontation of terrorism, which is threatening humanity, gives an example of bravery to the whole world, calling upon all to unify for facing terrorism.
For his part, Lebanese Industry Minister Hussein al-Hajj Hassan stressed the importance of integration between Syria and Lebanon in all spheres, adding that the Exhibition reflects Syria’s steadfastness and triumph over the unjust war waged against it.
Head of the Syrian Exporters’ Federation Mohammad Sawwah pointed out that Syria has restored its solid economy, recovering from the crisis with steps taken towards broadening exportation.
“The Syrian goods cover the need of the local market and now Syria has started to export and this refers to the recovery of the market and the strength of the state’s institutions,” Sawwah said.
The Syrian pavilion covers an area of 175 m2 and showcases products of 16 food companies.
The Exports Development Agency and the Syrian Exporters’ Union provided support to the participants, through making contribution up to 50% of total cost, with the aim of giving the opportunity to a larger number of companies to participate in the exhibition and opening new prospects for export growth.
