Project to lift pollution from Barada River in Damascus

Damascus, SANA- Minister of Water Resources Kamal al-Sheikha affirmed Sunday the importance of a project to lift pollution from Barada River in Damascus and its countryside, pointing out to the project’s useful outcomes in the domains of environment, health and economy.

Meeting Damascus Governor Bushre al-Saban and members of  the governorate, the Minister called for forming a teamwork from the Ministry and Governorate to cooperate and carry out this project as well as resuming work in the drainage stations to protect the river and lift pollution from its off springs.

The governor, for his part, said the project is very important and vital to revive the flow of water in the river and put an end to the pollution caused by the tourist facilities and restaurants along the river’s path.
