Sweida, SANA- The Directorate of Agriculture in Sweida province estimated the province’s total production of peach fruits for the current season at 1047 tons.
The Head of Sweida Agriculture Directorate, Ayham Hamed, said in a statement to SANA reporter today: “The production for this season is acceptable and there is an expansion in the areas planted with peach, which reached up to 5010 dunums, compared to 4800 dunums during the last season.”
Hamed added that the peach trees are concentrated in the high mountainous areas, especially the Dahr al-Jabal region in addition to the western region.
He noted that the total number of peach trees in the province is about 195,000 trees, of which the fruitful ones are estimated at more than 142 thousand trees.
Last season, Sweida province produced about 953 tons of peach fruits.
