Hama, SANA- The General Commission for Management and Development of Al-Ghab (GCMD) in Hama Province said that the current season of cultivating yellow maize has witnessed remarkable increase in the areas farmed under supervision of the General Commission as the cultivated areas reached 1032 hectares.
In a statement to SANA, Director of the Plant Wealth in the General Commission for Management and Development of al-Ghab, Eng. Wafek Zarouf said that the total plan scheduled for the current season is estimated at 680 hectares, of which 244 hectares were planted for the main stage and 788 hectares in the sub stage.
Corn is considered as one of the important crops and occupies a distinguished position on the agricultural production chart in al-Ghab area as it gains good productive and economic position since it contributes to achieving a financial income for farmers.
Corn also contributes to securing the basic material for the food industry in addition to be used as fodder for livestock.
