People’s Assembly condemns EU renewal of unjust sanctions against Syria

Damascus, SANA-People’s Assembly condemned on Thursday the European Union’s step to renew the unjust and unilateral sanctions against Syria, calling for the immediate lifting of this embargo.

“Those unilateral measures that violate all international conventions, international humanitarian law and human rights, directly affect the livelihood of the Syrian people in terms of food, medicine, education, work opportunities and human dignity,” the Assembly said in statement.

It added that there is nothing to say about the European Union’s step, but a complete obedience to the US administration which usurped the independence of its decisions.

The Assembly indicated that the condemned European measure escalates the suffering of the Syrian people and increases their deprivation by the lack of their most basic human rights to a decent life.
