Damascus,SANA- Italian delegation representing Federation of Umberba Municipalities paid a visit on Saturday to Syria Trust for Development where they hold meetings with the local specialists in the cultivation of Damascene Rose.
“During these sessions, a set of recommendations have been reached to be applied in cooperation between the two parties to achieve a better vision of the reality of cooperatives and to employ the Damascene Rose as a cultural, social and economic component. And employ it in the tourism and marketing fields”, according to a statement published by the secretariat of Syria Trust for Development on its Facebook page.
The visit, which lasted for four days, focused on investigating the current situation of the Damascene Rose in Al-Mahalba Castle in the countryside of Lattakia and Al-Nairab in the vicinity of Aleppo and collecting data to estimate this cultural heritage for the economic benefit of the communities involved in cultivating it.
The delegation visited al-za’faran Cooperative in the village of Tilla in Tartous Governorate, as a primary example cooperatives that were established between the Peasants’ Union and the Syrian Trust for Development.
This visit come as a result achieved due to including the Damascene Rose and its associated traditional practices and crafts on the UNESCO Human Heritage List in 2019.
