Events of the “Syrian Film Week” in Baghdad kick off

Baghdad, SANA- The events of the “Syrian Film Week” kicked off in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, in coordination between the departments of Cinema and Theater in both countries.

At the opening ceremony, the Iraqi Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, Hassan Nazim, called for more joint work between their creative figures to achieve effective and influential cultural renaissance. And stressed the firmly established historical and social relations between the two countries.

“Baghdad is keen to start this season with the “Syrian Film Week”, in appreciation of the ties between the two countries and their pioneering roles in the culture of the nation”, Nazim confirmed in a declaration to SANA’s correspondent in Baghdad ahead of the ceremony.

Nazim praised Syria’s pioneering and enlightening role at all cultural levels, stressing that his country’s government is keen to push bilateral cultural relations between the two countries ahead.

Director- General of the Cinema and Theater Foundation, Murad Shaheen, expressed his high appreciation for the great welcome of the Iraqi side for Syrian artists and stars.

After “Damascus –Aleppo” movie of Duraid Lahham and Basil al-Khatib was shown, the Iraqi Ministry of Culture honored Duraid Lahham, Basil Al-Khatib, Salma al-Masry and Suzan Najm Aldeen.
