Mechanism of delivering cross-border aid violates Syria’s sovereignty, Moscow says

Moscow, SANA- Russia rejected the extending of delivering cross-border aid mechanism to Syria as violating its sovereignty and territorial integrity, saying the International community won’t exert enough efforts to support reconstruction projects in the country.

“We cannot ignore the fact that the mechanism is violating Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” RT quoted Russia’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, Dmitry Polyansky as saying at UN Security council session in comments on the mechanism that ends authority next July.

Polyansky referred to Security Council Resolution No. 2585 that stipulates supporting early reconstruction projects in Syria, affirming that applying this resolution has been stumbled since the beginning, holding “partners of Russia at UNSC” responsible for that.

The Russian representative stressed that the US, which occupies parts of the Syrian territory, has been working for a long time to create a deliberate famine in the country which, in the past, enjoyed food self-sufficiency.
