President Díaz-Canel: Syrian-Cuban relations strong and historic

Havana, SANA- Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel stressed the strength and depth of the relations between Syria and Cuba, describing them as historic.

That came during a meeting with the Syrian Ambassador to Cuba, Dr. Idris Mayya, on the occasion of the end of his duties in Cuba.

President Díaz-Canel condemned the siege and unilateral coercive measures imposed on Syria, stressing the importance of strengthening relations between the two countries and uplifting them to the highest levels.

The Cuban President praised the wise leadership of President Bashar al-Assad and the legendary steadfastness of the Syrian people in the face of the unjust war waged against them.

For his part, Ambassador Mayya conveyed the greetings of President al-Assad to President Díaz-Canel and the friendly Cuban people, with wishes for continued progress and prosperity.

Mayya expressed thanks to President Díaz-Canel and all Cuban ministries for the support they provide to strengthen relations between the two countries in all fields.

Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero also received Ambassador Mayya, in the presence of Deputy Prime Minister Ricardo Cabrisas.

Marrero stressed Cuba’s firm stance in support of Syria in all fields and its rejection of the terrorist war it has been exposed to for more than 11 years.

For his part, Dr. Mayya affirmed Syria’s firm support for Cuba in all forums and its condemnation of the US blockade and the unilateral coercive measures imposed on it.
