Nebenzia: Sanctions against Russia will create historic crisis in the world

New York, SANA- Russia’s permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzia, warned of an economic crisis of “historic dimensions” in the world due to Western sanctions imposed on Russia

“The real reasons that threaten the global food market with dangerous changes are not related to Russia’s actions, but rather to the limitless sanctions launched by the West against Russia,” RT website quoted Nebenzia as saying during UN Security Council session last night.

As for the Russian special military operation to protect Donbass, Nebenzia stressed that Russia accurately fulfils its international obligations, and therefore there will be no threat to the Ukrainian soldiers who will hand over their arms.

The Russian diplomat slammed the Western calls for a humanitarian truce in Ukraine, noting that the stance of those countries is illogical, since they had rejected the Russian draft resolution regarding the humanitarian situation in Ukraine.

Nebenzia also expressed Moscow’s concern upon reports of persecuting some activists, journalists and social figures in Ukraine.

For his part, Russian Deputy Representative to the UN, Dmitry Polyansky, responded to the accusations against Moscow by US Deputy Secretary of State, Wendy Sherman, as he said “Washington did not make the required efforts in its negotiations with Moscow on security guarantees.”

“If the negotiations do not succeed, it means the US has not made enough efforts in this direction”, Polyansky said, adding “we should work better and propose more serious solutions.”
