Manila, SANA- A powerful earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale rocked the area 58 kilometers north of Namuac in the Philippines today.
The epicenter, with a depth of 39.74 km, was initially determined to be at 19.1381-degree north latitude and 121.2133-degree east longitude, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
The Philippines is located in the Pacific Ring of Fire region, where intense seismic activity is recorded, extending from Japan to Southeast Asia and the Pacific Basin.
