Presidents of Astana process guarantor states to hold summit in February-March 2022, Khaji says

Nur-Sultan, SANA- Ali Asghar Khaji, Senior Assistant to Iranian Foreign Minister for Special Political Affairs has announced that preparations are underway to hold a summit for the presidents of the guarantor states of the Astana process on Syria in the Iranian capital, Tehran in February-March 2022, depending on the situation of the coronavirus pandemic.

“The issue of holding this summit between the presidents of Iran, Russia and Turkey is up for discussion within the framework of this meeting, and this issue will be reflected in the final statement adopted by the meeting today,” Khaji said in a statement to the Russian news agency TASS today, on the sidelines of his participation in the 17th International Meeting on Syria in the Astana Format, currently being held in Nur-Sultan.

The 17th International Meeting on Syria in the Astana Format, which kicked off yesterday, continued its activities on Wednesday through holding bilateral and tripartite meetings between the participating delegations to coordinate positions on the points on the meeting’s agenda.
