Syrian musicians celebrate inscription of Qudud Halabiya on world heritage list

Damascus, SANA- Syrian musicians celebrated on Friday inscription of Qudud Halabiya on World Heritage List of UNESCO by holding a concert entitled “Our Qudud..to the Human Heritage.”

The event was performed by the Syrian National Band for Arabic Music, led by Maestro Adnan Fathallah on the opera stage at Dar Al-Assad for Culture and Ar.

Renowned singers and the youth who learn music from the ancient Syrian conservatories participated in the celebration, organized by Culture Ministry in cooperation with the Syrian Trust for Development.

Musicians who came from all over provinces also took part in the event to give a message that this great legacy is still preserved by governmental and societal institutions.

“Qudud, which is considered as combination of the rich and diverse Syrian identity, has become an inscribed human heritage and no one has the right to deny its origin,” Minister of Culture, Lubanah Mushouh said.

UNESCO on Wednesday inscribed Qudud Halabiya on the Human Heritage List during the 16th meeting of the international committee on the protection of cultural intangible heritage in France.
