Damascus, SANA – The 26th conference of the General Federation of Trade Unions (GFTU) wrapped up activities electing Jamal al-Qaderi as its chairman and Ibrahim Ebeido as his deputy.
In a press statement on Tuesday following his election, al-Qaderi stressed the importance of the current stage which requires double efforts to stand up against all pressures.
He called upon working class to continue its path and improve its capabilities to meet citizens’ needs under the unjust sanctions and economic blockade imposed on the country.
The 26th GFTU conference kicked off on Sunday at al-Faihaa Hall in Damascus with the participation of representatives of Arab and Foreign organizations. The three-day conference discussed the GFTU financial statement and report of the committee of observation and inspection as well as a number of decisions and other issues.
