After scandal of its concealment truth, US Army opens investigation into al-Baghouz massacre

New York, SANA- After the scandal of the US occupation army’s concealment of the truth of the massacre committed against civilians in Syria two years ago, US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin forced to announce the opening of an investigation into the massacre committed by his forces in al-Baghouz village, Deir Ezzor countryside on March 18th 2019, which claimed the lives of 64 women and children.

An investigation will be conducted on air strike carried out by a special operations unit called “Task Force 9″” the New York Times quoted Gen. Michael Garrett, Commanding General of the United States Army Forces Command.

In a report published on November 13, the newspaper said that the US army deliberately concealed the crime committed by its air forces near the village of al-Baghouz by order of a secret US special operations unit, noting that it was a “possible war crime”

Gen. Garrett will have 90 days to review investigations that have already been conducted and to continue investigating reports of civilian fatalities and with determining whether the strike was done in compliance with the laws of war, according to the newspaper.

A US F-15E attack plane first dropped a bomb weights 500-pound on a crowd of civilians in al-Baghouz area, then dropped another one of 2,000-pound, and then finally the third one.

“At the US Air Force’s Joint Operations Center at al Udeid Base in Qatar, they watched unbelievably what was happening since a drone filmed the strikes live”, the newspaper quoted an unnamed US soldier as saying.

Since its formation outside the Security Council, the so-called US-led coalition has committed so many crimes against the civilians in the countryside of Aleppo, Deir Ezzor, Raqqa and Hasaka, in addition to damaging the infrastructure under the pretext of combating Daesh (ISIS) terrorist organization, at a time, the facts confirm the close link between the coalition and the organization to target the Syrian Arab Army positions and residential areas in the eastern region.
