Ministerial committee follows up implementation of development projects, Deir Ezzor

Deir-Ezzor, SANA-  The ministerial committee in charge of following up on the service and development situation in Deir Ezzor province, inspected on Saturday a number of projects that are under implementation.

The committee, headed by the Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources, Eng. Bassam Tohme, was briefed on the service and livelihood reality, the movement of markets, maintenance and rehabilitation works, and a number of projects in the province and its countryside.

 “Most of the city’s residents have returned to their homes and jobs, as their number is currently more than 130 ,000 citizens, and all basic services have been provided to them and the government departments have been activated”, Head of the City Council, Thaer al-Ali said.

Al-Ali added that work is underway to implement a number of service and development projects related to removing rubble and rehabilitating schools, hospitals, sewage networks, streets, parks and squares to meet the increasing requirements for the return of the locals.

Head of the Education Directorate, Jasem al-Fraih, stated that the number of schools opened in al-Mayadeen has reached up to 62 schools for all stages, including more than 22,000 male and female students, and work is currently underway to rehabilitate 5 schools that will be put into service soon.

Director of the Public Establishment for Land Reclamation, Eng. Rabie al-Ali, pointed out that they are currently working to maintain the main and secondary channels and maintain the waterway channel.
