Do you know that Syria ranked fourth in the world in olive production in 2004 and 2006?

Damascus, (SANA) Do you know that Syria ranked fourth in the world among olive oil producing countries in 2004 and 2006, after Spain, Italy and Greece.

Syria’s production of olive crops in 2004 amounted to 201,964 tons and in 2006 to 252,353 tons.

In 2018, the ranking of Syria fell to the seventh place due to the decrease in the production due to the terrorist and economic war which the country has been exposed to.

In Syria, there are 103 million olive trees planted over an area of more than 70 thousand hectares.

Syrian experts estimate the amount of olive oil to be produced in 2021 at 102 thousand tons, while the production of olives would amount to 645 thousand tons.
