Damascus Countryside, SANA- Units of the army and the armed forces on Sunday and Monday secured evacuation of scores of families from Douma city, and Zibdin town in Eastern Ghota area in Damascus Countryside.
Those families ran off from the violence and terrorism of the Takfiri organizations which have been attacking civilians and committing crimes against humanity.
Chairman of the National Team Khaled Mur’ashli told SANA that 31 families including women, children and elderly arrived at al-Wafidin Camp and were transported to a temporary housing center in Qudsaya area in cooperation with the Syrian Arab army and the popular committees in Douma city.
Mur’ashli indicated that scores of gunmen were among those who were evacuated as they turned themselves in to the competent authorities to have their legal status settled.
He indicated that psychological and health conditions of evacuees were very bad and they were in a state of panic as terrorists warned them that they will be in danger if they get out, yet they were surprised when “The state provided all their basic needs and one can feel the improvement in their situation after few days of staying at the housing center.”
Over the past two months 300 families have been evacuated from the villages of Housh Nasara, Housh al-Dowahra, Housh al-Fara, al-Rihan, al-Nashabiyya, al-Mulaiha, Zibdin, Irbin, Saqba, Kafar Batna and Douma in Eastern Ghota, of which 185 families are residing at the center except the families which arrived on Monday.
For his part, Member of Syrian Clans Committee for National Reconciliation Sheikh Jamal Barakat said that on Monday 40 people were evacuated from Zibdin town in the southern part of Eastern Ghota and their humanitarian condition is very difficult.
“The army took them to one of the hospitals in the city of Jaramana for medical treatment,” sheikh Barakat said, indicating that later they will be transported to hospitals in Damascus or makeshift housing centers.
On Dec. 9, the army evacuated 76 families from Douma city including 322 children, women and men, and 20 gunmen who turned themselves in to authorities to have their legal status settled.
Several terrorist groups including the “Islam Army” and “Nation’s Army” commit various crimes against locals in Douma, including murder, robbery, and forced eviction.
Earlier in November, terrorists in the city crucified Maher Mohammad Qashouh, and paraded him on a truck around the city, before decapitating him and hanging his head beside his body in public, all upon orders from what is called “Sharia court” which had charged him of “apostasy” and working with the government.
