Moscow, SANA- Russian Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, has affirmed that the US uses Daesh terrorist organization to hinder political solution to the crisis in Syria and supports separatist militias in a flagrant violation of international resolutions.
During Valdai Forum, held in Moscow on Wednesday, Lavrov said that the US occupies lands in Syria and continues to plunder its natural wealth including oil, gas and wheat.
Lavrov reiterated the need to resolve the crisis in Syria politically in accordance with UN Resolution 2254, “We should give the opportunity for the Syrians to reach an agreement on self-determination, ” he said.
He indicated that some countries are trying to link the issue of the upcoming presidential elections in Syria to the changes that may occur to the political process, including the work of Committee of Discussing Constitution, noting that the committee’s work cannot be linked to these elections because the work of this committee was not mentioned in Resolution 2254.
UN Resolution 2254 affirms that the Syrians are the only ones who decide the future of their country, without any external interference, and the terrorist organizations are outside any political process.
