New York, SANA – Syria’s Permanent Representative to the UN Bashar al-Jaafari said that Syria is fighting those who have adopted the policy of fragmenting the people of the one country, adding that in Syria there is no room for fragmentation or sedition.
Receiving Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All East John X Yazigi in New York on Tuesday, al-Jaafari stressed that patriarch Yazigi represents Syria, which will continue to be the symbol of moderation, amity and tolerance.
In Syria there is no such thing as minorities, in Syria we have Syrians only, and that is it”, al-Jaafari said, hoping that the two bishops who were abducted in Syria be safe and calling for their immediate release without any conditions.
He demanded the countries and forces which are supporting the terrorists to exert pressure on the kidnappers as to release the abducted clergymen, adding that the pain in Syria has showed the real essence of the Syrians and has proved to the whole world that in Syria lies the salvation of all people from the extremist and exclusionary mentalities.
He concluded by saying that Syria deserves all scarifies and it will soon be again the place of security and amity.
