Moscow, SANA- Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has reaffirmed his country’s firm stance on that there is no alternative for a political solution to the crisis in Syria.
A statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry, read that during a phone call with his Jordanian counterpart Ayman al-Safadi, Lavrov asserted the principled and firm stance on that there is no alternative for the political solution to the crisis in Syria based on the Security Council’s resolution no. 2254 and the outcomes of the Syrian National Dialogue Congress in Sochi.
The statement noted that “the two ministers discussed the situation in Syria and the contribution to solving its problems, particularly in light of the decisions of the Conference on Refugees Return which was held in Damascus on November 11-12.”
The statement added that the two ministers also underlined the necessity to relaunch the negotiations between the Palestinians and “Israel” with the aim of reaching a settlement to the Palestinian cause based on establishing the independent Palestinian state.
