Hama, SANA-The cultivation of peanut in al-Gab region in Hama province has witnessed a big expansion during the past few years in light of its good revenues and low costs in comparison to the rest of crops in the region.
Director of Plant Resource in the General Body for Administration and Development in al-Ghab, Wafek Zrouf, told SANA that the cultivated area with peanut in al-Gab lands during this season amounted to 2,000 dunums increasing by 500 dunums if compared to the past season.
He noted that that number of farmers who are interested in planting peanut have increased because of its good financial revenues, adding that the peanut is one of the main crops in the region .
The cultivation of peanut is concentrated in al-Gab region and towns of Jub Ramla , Mharda ,al-Magher ,al-Jaben ,Tal Mileh and Salhab due to suitability of their lands to cultivate such important crop and peanut used in many of food, medical, and desserts industries as well as consuming it as sweet kind of nuts .
