Renewed fire in al-Anaza township in Banias countryside contained

Tartous, SANA- A fire which renewed on Saturday evening in al-Anaza township in Banias countryside on Nahl al-Anaza Road was contained.

Mayor of Al-Anaza, Mohammad Othman, told the SANA reporter that firefighting engines from the Syrian Oil Transport Company, Banias City Council, Civil Defense, Directorate of Agriculture and Technical Services, in addition to two fire engines from Aleppo and Daraa, have participated in the operations of extinguishing the fire.

Othman noted that the evacuation of homes was carried out only as a precaution measure at the moment of the outbreak of the fire, and all citizens have returned to their homes, noting that the damage was great in agricultural lands and forests and had not been counted so far, in addition to the damage to the telephone, electricity and water networks.

In turn, Colonel Samir Shamma, Commander of Tartous Fire Brigade, stated that all fires in the province have been extinguished and that all fires that appear in the Mashta al-Helu area are under surveillance, and that the firefighting brigade personnel are present and dealing with the fires, pointing out that the presence of some fire spots is technically normal and there is nothing to fear or worry about.

For his part, Head of the Forestry Department in the Tartous Agriculture Directorate, Eng. Hassan Nassif, indicated that the directorate’s fire brigade and members of the fire brigade are still at the site and closely follow up the process of putting out some fire spots.
