Homs, SANA- The Agriculture Directorate in Homs has estimated the province’s production of orange for the current season at 7,577 tons which have been cultivated over an area of 5,743 dunums.
Head of Homs Agriculture Directorate Nazih Refaie, in a statement to SANA reporter, said that the total number of orange trees in the province reached up to 216,450, and all of them are fruitful.
Refaie indicated that the province’s production of lemon is expected to reach 1,766 tons, adding that lemon trees are planted over an area of 2,584 dunums.
He added that the number of lemon trees in the areas which depend on irrigation is estimated at 70,600 trees and all of them are fruitful.
Meanwhile, the production of mandarin orange for the current season is estimated at 107 thousand tons while the production of tangerine reached 38 tons and the grapefruit’s production amounted to 44 tons.
The province’s production of orange last season was estimated at 4,330 tons while its production of lemon reached 1,071 tons.
